The Secretary to Ondo state Government, Ifedayo Abegunde popularly known as “‘Abena” has continued to distance himself and his loyalist from both government functions and any reelection meetings for his supposed boss, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.
It will be recalled that some groups in their quest to reelect the incumbent governor of Ondo State contributed cash with that of the State Assembly members loyal to Akeredolu to purchase him (Akeredolu), his nomination form. The SSG was said to have shun the presentation of the form to his principal as this indicate their rift still deepens.
He also shunned Ibi Giga Ambassadors event where vehicles were presented to supporters of Governor Akeredolu in the eighteen local government on Friday by Chief Alex Ajipe the convener of Ibi Giga Ambassadors.
Unlike Akeredolu’s Deputy, Agboola Ajayi who is on his way to join the Peoples Democratic Party, Abegunde has decided to join forces with other aspirants to unseat the incumbent governor.
It was gathered that the SSG has pitched his tent with Olusegun Abraham’s camp.
Abegunde who has refused to attend government functions in the last two months is said to be plamning to deputise Olusegun Abraham.
The relationship between the SSG and the Governor went frosty, following the inability of Abegunde to make money in the government to assist his supporters.
He was said to have been bittered by the way the governor’s relatives are executing all the contracts available at the expense of party members.
