The Ondo State Youth Parliament has called for a robust Civil- Military partnership and a purposeful relationship that will subdue electoral violence among Ondo youths towards the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
The call was made yesterday during a courtesy visit led to the Nigeria Army 32 Artillery Brigade Akure by the Speaker of the parliament, Rt. Hon. Smith Ikumapayi.
According to Ikumapayi, “We are not unaware that the youths are always used as perpetrators of electoral violence. Unfortunately, the youths are also at the receiving end of electoral violence. However, all hands must be on deck to reduce this ugly menace.
The Commanding Officer, 32 Artillery Bridgage, Brigadier Gen. Z L Abubakar in his response, described the visit as timely and needful, most especially as election draws nearer.
He however, calls for social cooperation and security partnership within the Military and the Parliament. Gen. Abubakar equally advised the teeming youths to shun fake news and nepotism in news reportage especially on social media, as it’s capable of influencing negative and unjust reactions from the populace.
In attendance were the Commanding Officer, Brigadier Gen. Z L Abubakar, and senior officers of the 32 Artillery Brigade, the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Oluwakemi Adeola and Majority Leader, Hon. Ayodele Oladimeji.
Others include, the Parliamentary Secretary, Hon. Jonathan Obatola, Hon. Adenike Adewale and Hon. Olushola K. Ogunniye
