ONDO 2020: NORTH MUST RETAIN GOVERNORSHIP SEAT
Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state, a socio-political group, All Progressives Congress Positive Thinkers, on Thursday, has called for retention of governorship slot in the northern senatorial district of the state.
The group maintained that this would enable the district to complete eight years in office.
Addressing journalists at a press conference in Akure, the state capital yesterday, the group President, Mr. Dada Eminence, said the with that the party would have a good chances at the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Highlighting the reasons behind the call, Dada noted that APC is most popular in the northern senatorial district.
According to him, despite the fact that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu worked for Action Alliance (AA) during the last general elections, which made President Muhammadu Buhari lose Ondo State, only the northern senatorial district won the senatorial seat for APC.
He further explained that since people were defecting from APC to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), no one has defected from APC to any other party in the northern senatorial district.
Dada stated that despite the fact that the larger percentage of appointments made by the Akeredolu-led administration went to the southern senatorial district, a lot of them are leaving the party for other parties.
He pointed out that the Deputy Governor, who was a member of APC, has defected to the PDP.
The group, therefore, charged APC leadership to ensure the governorship slot is zoned to the northern senatorial district in order for the party to emerge victorious at the October 10, 2020 poll in the state.
Also join at the conference are the duo of Mr Adeoye Johnson from Ondo southern senatorial district and Adesesan Adesegun from Ondo central maintained completing 8yrs term in Ondo north senatorial district is sacrosanct, anything short of that is tantamount to millitary oppression.
Dada, therefore, suggested one of the aspirants, Mr. Olayide Adelami, as the appropriate choice from the zone, saying “We urge the leadership of our party to look inward and pick Mr. Olayide Adelami from Owo to complete the eight years term.”
