HON ADE ADEOGUN IS CROWNED THE ONDO STATE LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR 2022.
Accolades are perfect pats to do more. It is never meant to fan anyone’s ego but a necessary fillip to redefine, rededicate and redesign one’s path for the common good of all.
For over three years, I have watched Hon Adejoro Adeogun reject awards. Those who have had encounter with him couldn’t believe a Nigerian politician wouldn’t jump at any award. I have seen him query those who wished to honour him with awards. They would even sometimes get tired.
I could sense the disappointment on the faces of a group of people who nominated him for award sometimes in his office when he told them that the only award that would interest him would be the Mo Ibrahim award that comes with benefits. They met an uncommon Nigerian legislator who doesn’t swim in the pool of garnished accolades.
Over two years, Hero has consistently nominated him. This year, reasons won his heart and he bowed to a genuine conviction of his nomination. The consistent Hero group saw the light in his carriage, excellent contributions to nation-building, Bills and motions on the floor of the House, responsibleness and passion for truth irrespective of partisan leaning. Hon Ade Adeogun is a patriot and virtually everyone who has met or heard him speak has noticed his unhidden intelligence.
While he would have been physically present to receive this award, it would be the most insensitive thing to do having lost his Chief of staff not quite long. The Ondo state Legislator of the year 2022, Hon Adejoro Adeogun is human and respectful. As a leader who values relationship, a representative was sent to honour the Hero group since he was unavoidably absent.
