Clarifications On The Misleading Opinions Of Some Agents Of Falsehood And Mischiefs
Our attention has been drawn to a particular voice notes filled with uninformed opinions by one Mrs. Abiye Ademoyekun Kajola. In these voice notes, Mrs. Abiye spuriously stated that;
1. The newly launched BTO scholarship scheme is an NDDC Scholarship programme.
2. House of Representatives members receive twenty-three (23) million Naira monthly as Constituency allowance.
We would have ignored these lies as it is not the first time this woman has attempted to feed our people with her lies. However, for the sake of our people who deserve consistent clarifications from us, let us emphatically state that:
1. The BTO Scholarship is one of the several programs and initiatives sponsored by the BTO FOUNDATION. Some of the recent programmes include free UTME forms and free medical/surgical outreach.
Mrs. Abiye’s lack of proper education has led her to downplay the role of proper education in our society. She still lives in the analogue age and can not distinguish between a personal website and NDDC website. How can the form for NDDC Scholarship be placed for download on BTO’s personal website? This show of shame will only ruin her image further.
Mrs. Abiye should let us know why this her acclaimed “NDDC Scholarship” is not in all the nine (9) Niger Delta States or the remaining sixteen (16) local governments in Ondo State.
If she can not do this, she can organise her people to register for her “NDDC Scholarship” and get paid.
If Mrs. Abiye has any other information apart from the one stated here, we challenge her to bring forward the facts. If she can not do the above, we advise that she seal her leaking mouth.
2. There is nothing like “Constituency allowance” for Federal lawmakers.
There are only constituency projects that are secured in the federal budget for your constituency. Lawmakers are not given any money to execute Constituency projects. Lawmakers lobby and get projects that would benefit their constituents, put into the budget. That is what is called Constituency Projects. Whether the projects goes into the budget from the lawmakers or from the executives, they are all constituency projects.
They are called constituency projects because, the initiative to get them into the budget is from the legislator. There are also social responsibility programmes. This is where we have scholarship schemes, Small and Medium Scale Business Initiative Scheme and others.
To enlighten Mrs. Abiye, there are three main responsibilities for a lawmaker; representation, law making and oversight.
Rep. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s role as the Chairman, House committee on NDDC is oversight, nothing more. He does not execute projects.
Rep. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has never hidden what he earns as a legislator. As he has stated several times, the monthly basic salary of a member of House of Representatives in Nigeria is Six Hundred and fifty Thousand Naira (N650,000) and rumning cost of Eight Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N8,500,000).
It is so shameful that a woman who is aspiring to be a lawmaker can display such sheer ignorance on how the legislature works. However, we are not disappointed with this intentional show of shame by Mrs. Abiye. She obviously lacks character and mien needed to understand legislative business.
It is a shameful act that Mrs. Abiye can attempt to deceive our people. We will love to know when Mrs. Abiye was called to Bar since she now refers to herself as a bukateria lawyer.
A “lawyer” that cannot compose one correct sentence in English language but can only compose voice notes in her usual ‘bitter language’. It is surprising that such a crude and unrefined personality can even make attempt to represent the very erudite and intellectual people of our Federal Constituency.
