Babaleye congratulate Gov. Aiyedatiwa, says party must unite to deliver Aiyedatiwa in November
A Lawyer and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Barr. Tolu Babaleye has congratulated the governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his emergence as candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the Governorship Election slated for November 16, 2024
The returning officer, Gov. Usman Ododo of Kogi State, while declaring the results, announced that the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest numbers of lawful votes cast in the direct primary election, is hereby returned elected and declared winner of the governorship primary of APC in Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa polled 48,569 to defeat fifteen other aspirants.
In a statement by Babaleye on Monday, he opined that defeating an incumbent Governor in a party primary to return him as the candidate of the party for the Governorship election whether direct or indirect is a joke taken too far. It is impossible in our political clime”
“I congratulate Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on his victory and i also congratulate the remaining 15 Aspirants for their courage and for making the contest robust and interesting”
“Now that the contest is over and a candidate has emerged, I wish to appeal to all of us to team up for the task ahead. We should remember the popular APC slogan after a primary election like this “MY PARTY IS MY PARTY, OUR PARTY IS OUR PARTY”.
“This is democracy at work. Let no one among the contestants go to another party as it may lead to political oblivion”
“Governor Aiyedatiwa is a father to all in Ondo State, let’s embrace reconciliation”, the statement said
