Ever since the Federal Government announced the relax in the lockdown in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun states, there has been influx of people moving into Ondo state despite the fact that our boundaries are closed.
I have confirmed information about some people living in my area in Ondo city who came down from Lagos during the weekend in order to resume work as civil servants in our darling state.
It’s a pity that it’s only in our own clime of the world that governors of the thirty six states will sit in an important conference to make concrete decisions concerning life and death at a difficult time like this and some common miscreants who are paid by the poor tax payers and at the same time sworn to enforce laws will be the same elements of
compromise.
Our uniform men at our various boundaries have turned the scene to a revenue generating spot, making several thousands of naira on daily basis.
A guy whose father refused entry into his house in the circulated varal video few weeks ago confirmed that he spent about #12,000 from Lagos to Ado Ekiti as transportation fare.
Those drivers have included the charging amount for the settlement of our officers at the borders in this whopping fees.
The most worrisome among the whole episode is that our governor in Ondo state keeps recounting same story in each of his broadcast but failed woefully to take definite action to put the situation under control.
We all know that leadership is not a tea party affair, leadership is not a pleasure, but heavy and deep responsibly.
A leader is known not by words, but action. A leader does not need to complain, but listens to complaints of the people and acts right as fast as possible. A complained leader is a failed one! No leader ask the same question with his followers, a leader is charge with the responsibility to provide right answers to the burning questions of his people.
I challenge the executive governor of Ondo state to stop the complaint and do the needful. Where the word of king is, there is his power. The position of governor is a dignity one, every sword must be wilded to bring the perpetrators to book. A throne bible said is established for justice. The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in the time of comfort and conveniences, but where he stands in the time of controversies and challenges.
This is a perilous time, no doubt, we must do everything within our capacity to put it under check. The most important way to combat the continue spread of Covid-19 in the sunshine state is thorough monitoring of our closed borders to prevent sneaking of intruders into our State. Even if our markets and shops are closed and people continue to put on facemasks and apply all necessary measures, if our borders are still porous, it’s efforts in futility.
Let the governor live to his responsibility as a man who owns the mandate of the people and fulfills his own part in the social contact before it’s too late. History will not forgive those who know what to do but decided to fold their arms and stand still when the forces of iniquity and degradation prevail.
Let’s #Staysafe
Long live Ondo state
