Former Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Special Duties during the administration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Asiwaju Adekanmbi Femi has congratulated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on his victory at the gubernatorial poll held in the state, last Saturday.
Adekanmbi said in a statement, that the re-election of Governor Akeredolu for another term was a reflection of the good governance that the people had witnessed in the first term of Mr. Talk and Do people’s governor.
The Owo Local Government born youthful politician has expressed his satisfactory over the conduct of the election especially on the part of INEC who stood as the umpire of the election and the masses who has spoken with their vote.
He however appreciated the party faithful who stood firm on the mandate of party.
He urged the re-elected Governor not to relent his effort in turning Ondo State to an industrial hub, “the governor has gradually been turning our dear State to a State that stands out among his counterpart since the governor is elected” Adekanmbi said.
He prayed for more knowledge and wisdom for Governor Akeredolu to guide and lead the people right, and deliver a brand new Ondo State, well developed in all spheres of life and human endeavours, where it’s residents are happy and living fulfilled life.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Abel Olayinka has declared at the INEC state office in Akure: “That Olúwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu of APC secured the highest number of votes among the contestants. Moreover, he was expected to score at least one quarter of the votes in two-thirds of the local governments, but he succeeded in scoring more than 25 percent in all the 18 local governments.
“Also, the margin of lead is higher than the number of cancelled votes. Consequently, having satisfied the requirements of the law, I hereby declare Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, as the winner and he is hereby returned elected having scoring 292,853 votes.
Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, clinched the second position with a total votes of 195,791 and won in 3 local governments of the state.
