Duties and Responsibilities as Head of Mechanical Engineering Unit, FUNAAB:
As the Head, of the Mechanical Engineer Unit at the Works and Service Directorate of FUNAAB, I was responsible for the followings:
Generator Section: Power Generation through the use of generators. The University has 52 pieces of diesel engine generators with capacities ranging between 60 kVA and 1000 kVA. I am responsible for their maintenance and servicing. I determine the load requirement and forecast in power need of the University. The University has installed solar PVC in some sensitive offices and laboratories;
Automobile Section: The maintenance and servicing of more than 300 vehicles of the University.
Driver Coordination: I am also responsible for the activities and coordination of the work of all University drivers (over 200 drivers);
Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Section: The installation, maintenance and servicing of more than 1000 units of air-conditioners and refrigerators including heavy-duty A/C, split and window unit types;
Welding and Fabrication Section: I design and developed various projects involving metal welding and fabrication including seats in lecture theatres, beds in the hostel, gates, water scaffolds, etc.
Administrative Work: I am responsible for all the administrative work of the Mechanical Engineering Unit including being a member of University sensitive committees. My other administrative works include the coordination and delegation of duties to all the technicians and artisans in my Unit. I am also responsible for the preparation of contracts for repairs and maintenance of the above-mentioned section, the retirement of all cash advances, supervision of the workers in my unit and contractors working for my Unit and
