*LEGISLATIVE DUTY- HON. AKINRIBIDO LEADS HOUSE COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT FUNCTION* .
Earlier today,Monday September 19th 2022,the member representing Ondo west constituency-1 and chairman of the house committee on International and diaspora relations,Hon. Tomide Akinribido led other members of the committee on an oversight visit to the Ondo state ministry of regional integration and diaspora relations.
The house committee delegation were received by the Commissioner,Prince Boye Ologbese and senior officials of the ministry including the Permanent Secretary and directors.
During an interactive session,the commissioner informed the legislators of the recent approval of the federal government for an annex office of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission(NIDCOM) to be opened in Akure,Ondo state. The commissioner eulogized the significance of the development as it marks the first of such office to be approved in the southwest region. The commissioner also informed the legislators of preparations for an Ondo state diaspora business summit which would aim at ensuring that resourceful diaspora indigenes of Ondo state and the federal government invest adequately in ondo state,especially in the proposed Seaport project.
In his reaction,Hon. Akinribido expressed satisfaction with the activities of the ministry since the assumption of the new commissioner in office,while assuring that the house committee would partner with the ministry for more impact and success. Hon. Akinribido also voiced his desire to collaborate with the ministry in working out a legislation to create an Ondo State Diaspora Agency.
Other Honorable members of the house committee who were present at the parley included Hon. Toluwani Borokini,Hon. Samuel Ademola and Hon. Adeyemi Olayemi.
