Tunji-Ojo mourns late AfDB Vice President, Chief Bisi Ogunjobi
The member representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has described the death of world renowned financial expert, Chief Bisi Ogunjobi, OON as painful and irreparable.
The late Chief Ogunjobi was reported to have died on the 11th of September, 2022.
The lawmaker expressed deep shock over the death of Chief Ogunjobi in a statement by his Spokesperson, Alao Babatunde, on Monday
Chief Bisi Ogunjobi, a former Vice President of African Development Bank (AfDB) and pioneer Pro-Chancellor of Glorious Vision University (GVU), Ogwa, Edo State has been severally described as a big stakeholder in the development of Africa and a promoter of peaceful coexistence.
According to the lawmaker, “Chief Ogunjobi was a rare and uncommon figure. He was a big role model for many of us, growing up. His death is a big blow to us in Akoko, Nigeria and Africa as a continent.
“We take solace in the simple and outstanding life he lived. He was a cheerful giver. Many families who have benefited from his philanthropic gestures through his foundation, Bisi Ogunjobi Foundation will solely miss him.
“Akoko People will miss him. Our country, Nigeria has lost a great ambassador and the vacuum his death has created in Africa will take a very long time to fill.”
In July this year, more than 30 banking and finance experts and academics, including the President of Afrexim Bank, Cairo, Egypt Prof. Benedict Oramah, launched a festschrift, titled “The New Normal As Option for Sustainable Development in Nigeria.” in honour of the Ikare Akoko-born philanthropist
