On Saturday Morning, the newly inducted Pioneer Chairman of the Akoko District of the Institute of Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Honourable Ayodele Samson Akande,FCA led the delegation consisting of the entire National Executives and members of the Accounting Professional body to the grave yard of the first Accounting Professor, Michael Adepoju Adeyemo at Irun Akoko,in Akoko North West Local Government, ANWLG on Saturday morning.
Apart from being a foremost and pioneer member of ICAN, Prof. Adeyemo was the 11th President of ICAN and according to historical relics and record retrieved from archive was an Accountant to the core and as a lecturer at the University of Lagos was instrumental to the admission and success recorded by many Akoko indigenes in the Accounting profession.
The late Professor, Adeyemo left an indelible footprint in the Nigerian Accounting Landmark and legacy that has remain unbeatable for being the motivating and inspirational factor behind the legions of Professionally Chartered Accountants of Akoko origin making waves in different sectors worldwide.
The positive impact of Prof.Adeyemo today as published inside the ICAN Event Brochure confirmed that his effort has yielded into over 178 renowned Akokos being Chartered Accountants and 83 of them as Fellow of ICAN while eight has gone beyond to the other world.
Among these successful Accountants includes the former Central Bank of Nigerian Governor, Chief Joseph Oladele Sanusi from Ogbagi-Akoko who is the first Akoko to be listed as a Chartered Accountant, Chief, Honourable Joseph Jayeola Ajatta from Ikaram Akoko,a two term member of the National Assembly Representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency, Lagos , and Chief Segun Oloketuyi, Former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer[MD/CEO] of WEMA Bank Plc from Irun Akoko.
Other notable Akoko born A-List Accountants also includes His Royal Highness Oludo of Ido, Okeagbe -Akoko, Oba Adedeji Samuel Awojolu, FCA listed as the 18th is the Finance Director of GLO Telecommunications Ltd whose three Children are Chartered Accountants, as well as Mr. Femi Ojoborun from Okeagbe-Akoko who sit atop the Finace and Treasury Department of Dangote Group of Companies, High Chief Lawrence Adubiaro, FCA listed as 2oth who retired after an over three decades meritorious service from Federal Government Parastatal.
One of the most revered Akoko wife and a Successful woman Accountant showcased by ICAN list is Madam Yinka-Tunji Ojo who is the biological mother of Honourable Bunmi-Tunji Ojo the current member of the National Assembly, Representing the Good People of Akoko North East/West Federal Constituency.
According to the statistical data published inside the ICAN Event brochure confirmed that Ikare and Okeagbe towns has the largest numbers of theirs indigenes attaining the rank of Fellow of the Accounting Profession while Iboropa-Akoko had only one, Adekola Foluke Foluwaniyi as FCA.
The homage was part of the colourful activities lined up for the induction and inauguration of the 1st Chairman, Akoko District, Hon. Akande, FCA the ANWLG Council Executive Chairman and his executives members by the national body of ICAN
