As the 2020 Ondo State governorship elections approaches, the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) set up and inaugurated it’s 9 man Ondo State Governorship Screening Committee headed by Alh. Tijjani Musa Tumsa inline with the partys guideline to assiste in ensuring aspirants meet the requirements to contest for the governorship election.
Recall that the party recently lost Bayelsa State few hours before swearing in of the Governor elect through a supreme court ruling which favour the second leading party of the said purported election.
The Party did not want a repeat of the mistakes which was mainly attributed to the Screening Committee who failed to carry out their duties diligently to ensure all documents tendered by aspirants are authentic.
Meanwhile, the 2020 Ondo State governorship screening committee has successfully completed it’s assignment with Dr Nathaniel Adojutelegan as the last person to be screened bringing the total number of aspirants screened to twelve.
According to newsmen, the aspirant for the governorship election, zDr Nathaniel Adetelojun an Akoko North West LGA born Legal luminary and technocrat commended the APC screening Committee, described the process as a thorough engagement. He said the members were diligent, painstaking, and considerate.
According to sources at the National Secretariat, the screening exercise was performed orderly according to the aspirants procured the expression of interest and nomination forms a.
While asking the aspirant on his stand on primaries, the Governorship hopeful maintained that the party leadership should adopt the Direct mode of primary election as it would create a level playing field for the aspirants, resolve the internal crisis within the Party in the state, unify Party members, galvanise the party to a successful governorship election, and enable the most popular aspirant to emerge as the Party’s candidate.
As for the election, “I am optimistic of victory, because the Ondo people wants a man like me at the helm of affairs”. Says Adojutelegan.
Newsmen gathered that the aspirant arrived the screening venue at about 2:22pm on 9th July 2020 an hour before the screening commenced.
